The Art of Annalisa Pisoni

Annalisa Pisoni is a young Italian artist, who lives between Genoa and Milan. Her paintings and photographs are raw and intimate studies of the human body (especially the limbs), and the extreme close-ups tease, provoke and overwhelm the viewer.

She says:

My central theme is the body, as you will see from my point of view, a macroscopic view, tormented and obsessive…now maybe you will understand the rest of you, art is also the freedom to interpret.

Annalisa also works with film, and considers music to be her one of her many passions.

The Art of Shelby Taylor

Shelby-Taylor-13

Shelby Taylor is a gifted, upcoming artist from Canada, who will soon be graduating with a BFA from The University of Western Ontario, London.

It’s really easy to fall in love with her latest paintings, which are rich with symbolism, and have a central theme of wild animals intruding into urban spaces.

Snip from her site:

I seek out to create an infringing force within our humanity by using the figure and concept of the animal. The images I create focus on encroaching animals in places and forms that we consider properties of humanity. My earlier work was based in creating an illusive image with exaggeration in proportion and form, but as I progress my works relate to interrupting a reality through more subtle inclusions of the animal form in it’s natural state.

Charming Baker – A Phenomenal New Artist From The UK

A-Conversation-Piece-(A-shot-in-the-arse)

Charming Baker is one of the UK’s fastest rising artists, and his paintings are being sold for tens of thousands of pounds to some of the world’s biggest collectors. Some of the bulk buyers of the works include Damien Hirst, the super-controversial English artist, and Frank Cohen, one of the most famous art collectors in the world.

This former road digger’s rise to fame can only be described as meteoric, and he has been proclaimed as the next big thing by the BBC, the Daily Telegraph and GQ (UK) magazine. He was discovered only five years ago, selling his work from the bedroom of his south-east London council flat. Persuaded by art collector Tim Fennell, Baker agreed to put on a pop up show at the Truman Brewery in East London. The show was a huge success, and was sold out on the opening night.

Baker, since then, has had successful shows in London, Los Angeles and New York. He will be showing his latest work in London, this July, and will come back Stateside next year.

Baker doesn’t work with a gallery, and is little known in the art world circles. He self-funds his shows, and promotes himself on social networking sites, internet forums, and sites like YouTube, where a video of Charming shooting his paintings with a shotgun has become cult viewing.

Brazilian Artist André Azevedo’s Latest Artworks

andreazevedoart.blogspot.com_Small

It’s always wonderful to see talented young artists experimenting and trying to breaking the mold. André Azevedo, a Brazilian artist whose works have been previously featured on JazJaz, is one of the new wave of creative people who are making some really exciting stuff.

His latest pieces are inspired by his observations of the small gestures and actions of people. He combines several artistic techniques; drawing, painting and even sewing over fabrics to create layered artworks that create an illusion of “frozen” movement in the eyes of the viewer.

Late in the night the silence dominated the room, in the thoughts images in a constant movement were watching in a way that seemed not to make sense. I took paper and pencil to try to materialize those ideas so I started to draw.

Some of André’s works are an unabashed, loving study of the unclothed male and female human form, so his blog is NSFW for that reason.

Check out more images after the jump.
